History
Brookside Community Health Center was established in 1994 as a response to studies done by the West Contra Costa Healthcare District which showed a lack of primary health care services for low-income, medically underserved residents in West Contra Costa County.
- In 1998, BCHC opened a Dental Clinic, funded largely through private grants & community contributions, to address a long-time critical need in West County. The clinic now provides over 7400 dental visits annually-
- In 1999, BCHC was awarded a New Start grant. This grant, recognized BCHC accomplishments over its first five years of existence including its support from local community resources and its long-term strategy for serving the health care needs of West County residents. This grant, was one of two awarded in all of California.
- In 2000, BCHC instituted a Perinatal program to provide care to low-income expectant mothers. Our obstetrical staff provide
- In 2001, BCHC became a founding member of the Community Clinic Consortium, along with La Clinica de la Raza and Planned Parenthood.
- In 2004, BCHC hosted the grand opening of a second clinic in down town Richmond. With great support from Congressman Miller, City of Richmond, City of San Pablo, Contra Costa County and local businesses and community leaders.
- In 2008, BCHC was able to appropiate $6.0 million in benefit funds from Chevron Co.
- In 2009, BCHC Began services in El Cerrito High School. A collaboration to assure basic education, information and referral services to youth.
- 2009, BCHC collaborates with San Pablo Rotarians and many community partners to renovate the clinical suites in San Pablo.
- 2010, BCHC began to implement Electronic Health Records.
