About Us

In 1994, Brookside Community Health Center was established by the West Contra Costa Health Care District in response to District studies which showed a lack of primary health care services for low income, medically underserved residents of the area.  Presently BCHC is providing high quality, comprehensive, prevention-oriented primary care services to 16,164 patients providing over 52,000 primary care visits and our services include adult medicine, pediatrics, perinatal care, dentistry and health education.  Brookside has always emphasized disease prevention, including health education and screening for early diagnoses.  This approach vastly improves patient outcomes-to say nothing of dramatically reducing costs.  BCHC offers screenings and prevention care for diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and of course, cancer.  Such conditions can cause debilitating, even catastrophic, complications and require expensive ongoing treatment.  BCHC is able to provide this preventive care for less-including visits to the health provider, medications, and laboratory tests.  And, although Brookside is not an emergency room, we do offer urgent care for acute conditions ranging form influenza to sprains, and we work closely with area hospital and County clinics.
